The TIF program is another example of how public assets (in this case property taxes) are being transferred from the many into the pockets of the connected few. The process is obscure, deceptive and beyond public accountability. Beneficiaries are the politicians and corporations who draw on TIFs to subsidize their private for-profit businesses. The entire process is essentially controlled by one man, the mayor, with input from a few powerful aldermen. We are calling for a thorough review of this corrupt practice.
